Unnature or Supernature - On the question of technology in Walter Benjamin’s philosophy

Abstract
This essay addresses the question of technology in Walter Benjamin’s philosophy, focusing on the concept of nature. First, it considers the theory of two natures and two techniques formulated in The Work of Art in the Age of Its Technological Reproducibility. Next, the same theory is related to the “dialectical essence of technology” as presented by Benjamin in a fragment from Notebook K of the Arcades Project. Finally, the result of these readings is tested through a commentary on one of the thought images from Berlin Childhood circa 1900, “The Telephone.”
