Pocket cemeteries: play and mourning in some contemporary poetry

Abstract
This article aims to investigate the role of imagination in dealing with the dead in
contemporary Brazilian poetry, primarily based on the articulation between play
and mourning in poems by Mariana Godoy (in Holograma) and Leonardo Gandolfi
(in Robinson Crusoé e seus amigos). Drawing especially on the theoretical framework of Walter Benjamin, the article reads these poems as a space not only for suffering but also for play in facing the ghosts of those who are gone, articulating a productive relationship with the absence that death establishes. Thus, it is proposed that mourning is lived in this poetry in close relation with desire and a will to create.
